It's also safe to say Episode IX will reveal once and for all whether Kylo Ren can be pulled back to the light. And though Luke Skywalker died as a result of his final confrontation with his nephew in The Last Jedi, expect him to reappear in Force Ghost form, mentoring Rey in her Jedi ascension much as Obi-Wan and Yoda once did for him. We'll likely see Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose and the rest working to rebuild the ranks and rally the galaxy against the First Order. General Leia's Resistance only barely survived the wrath of the First Order, numbering just a few dozen soldiers aboard one battered hunk of junk of a ship. Given how The Last Jedi ended, certain assumptions can be made about the plot. The most Abrams and his cast were willing to reveal at Star Wars Celebration Chicago is that there's a lengthier time gap between Episode VIII and IX, and that the film will feature Rey, Poe, Finn and Rose embarking on a new mission together. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's PlotEven with the first teaser trailer now available, we know very little about the plot of Episode IX. This is fueling hope that Hera or other Rebels favorites could make their live-action debuts. The final trailer also features a cameo of The Ghost, the ship used by the main characters in Star Wars Rebels. Dominic Monaghan and Matt Smith have both been cast in undisclosed roles. Naomi Ackie has been cast as a Resistance ally named Jannah, one who Williams jokingly (we think?) suggested might be the daughter of Lando. Grant as First Order Allegiant General Pryde. The film will also add several brand new cast members in undisclosed roles, including Keri Russell as master thief Zorri Bliss and Richard E. Look for at least two other familiar faces from the Original Trilogy to appear, as Billy Dee Williams will be reprising his role as Lando Calrissian and Ian McDiarmid will return as the apparently still living Emperor Palpatine.
